Spring's Gause aims to add name to illustrious Ironman list

In just 90 days, Spring's Chris Gause will attempt to do what only seven other women have ever done -- finish the Ford Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii at the age of 70 or older.

After becoming the only woman ever in the 70 and older division to finish a domestic Ironman (other than Kona) at Ford Ironman Florida in Panama City Beach last November, Gause, 70, hopes to add her name to an illustrious group of triathletes, which includes Ethel Autorino, Harriet Anderson and, of course, Sister Madonna Buder.

Autorino was inducted into the USA Triathlon Hall of Fame this February after being one of the most decorated age-groupers in U.S. multisport history. She is a 10-time age-group winner at the USA Triathlon Age Group National Championship and went on to capture six gold medals and one silver as a member of Team USA at the ITU World Championships.
